Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek, ranked number 1 in the world by the Women’s Tennis Association, was defeated by France’s Alizé Cornet at Wimbledon on Saturday, ending her 37-game winning streak.

Swiatek, who lost to Cornet 6-4, 6-2 in the third-round match, started slow in the opening set, dropping the first three games before fighting back and winning the next two. The two would split the next four games, but Cornet would eventually win the set.

Momentum seemed to have shifted in the second set as 21-year-old Swiatek took a 2-0 lead, but Cornet quickly took control and won the next six games to end the match.

“Honestly, yes, I’m usually hard on myself. Here I know how I felt before the games, I know how I felt when I was training. Let’s just say I didn’t feel at my best, so I’m aware that could happen,” Swiatek said of the winning streak after the game.

The two-time Polish Grand Slam champion’s 37-game winning streak dating back to February was the longest since Martina Hingis in 1997.

“I have no words at the moment. It reminds me of the time I defeated Serena on the same pitch exactly eight years ago. This court is a lucky charm for me,” Cornet said after the win.

In 2014, the French defeated then-No. 1 Serena Williams on Court One to advance to her first career Grand Slam round of 16. With the win, Cornet improves to 4-3 in her career against world No. 1. 1

Cornet, who is in her 62nd consecutive Major with the WTA record, will next play Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic on Monday.

In Tuesday’s games on Center Court, Swiatek recorded her 36th straight win by defeating Jana Fett 6-0, 6-3. She dominated the first set against Fett in her first match since the French Open, but went through a rough patch in the second when Fett was close to a double break.

The top seed bounced back from a shaky start to the set and won five straight games, taking their winning streak to 36 games.
