Hugh Grant encouraged UK protesters to blast ‘Benny Hill’ theme song

Grant tweeted, tagging protester and activist Steve Bray on Thursday, subtly suggesting that he perform the theme song for British comedy TV series ‘The Benny Hill Show’ outside Parliament.

“Hello @snb19692 Glad you got your speakers back,” Grant wrote. “Do you happen to have Benny Hill’s music on hand?

Bray, in this case, did.

“Just for @HackedOffHugh as requested here today at the media circus…College Green. Benny Hill theme song,” he captioned. wrote in response.
The comedic song, officially titled “Yackety Sax”, could then be heard in the news background about Johnson’s resignation.

CNN has reached out to a representative for Grant for comment.

‘The Benny Hill Show’, which starred the late comedian Benny Hill and featured slapstick sketches, originally aired on the BBC for eight seasons from 1955.

Grant recently starred in the HBO miniseries “The Undoing,” but one of his most memorable roles was in the romantic comedy “Love, Actually,” where he played a newly elected British Prime Minister.
