The Yankees will provide two-thirds of the American League’s starting field at this year’s All-Star Game, with Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton taking corners on either side of Los Angeles Angels’ Mike Trout.
It’s the first time since Dave Winfield and Rickey Henderson, who started for the AL in 1988, that the Yankees have two outfielders in the All-Star Game.
The starting lineups for the game, which will be played July 19 at Dodger Stadium, were announced by Major League Baseball on Friday. In addition to the Yankees Sluggers, local clubs will also have a strong presence. Batsman-designate Shohei Ohtani and Trout will represent the Angels as starters, and Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts and shortstop Trea Turner will both start for the NL
Notably absent are all of the Mets’ starters, who as of Thursday were two-and-a-half games behind the Dodgers for the best record in the NL but will have to wait and see who will be selected as a reserve from their roster after Pete Alonso and the St. Louis Cardinals’ Paul Goldschmidt NL starting first baseman beaten.
