NHL Draft 2022: The Canucks meet the second Elias Pettersson

The Vancouver Canucks used a third-round draft pick to bring in a second player named Elias Pettersson.

The Sweden defenseman was the No. 80 pick in the 2022 NHL draft.

Coincidentally, the 18-year-old shares the same name as the team’s star center, who was picked in the 2017 draft.

The elder Pettersson was a first-round pick for the team.

He snapped at the joke, posting on social media, “We need a different nickname.”

One person suggested “Repeaty,” a game on the 23-year-old’s nickname “Petey.”

The team posted photos of it Petterssons side by sidewith her blonde hair in similar center parts, write “same same but different”.

The Canucks picked six new players in this year’s draft. In addition to the second Pettersson, the team relied on right winger Jonathan Lekkerimäki, center Daimon Gardner, goalkeeper Ty Young, defender Jackson Dorrington and defender Kirill Kudryavtsev.
