Canada meets Switzerland in the quarterfinals of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships


EDMONTON –

At the World Junior Hockey Championships in Edmonton, it’s win or home when the quarterfinals begin.

Canada (4-0-0) tops the table after going unbeaten in the preliminary round and meets Switzerland (1-3) today.

The Canadians are captained by Anaheim Ducks’ Mason McTavish, who leads the tournament with seven goals and six assists.

The Swiss made it through to the quarter-finals with a 3-2 win against Austria on Monday and thus celebrated their only tournament win to date.

In another quarterfinal game, the reigning American champions (4-0-0) meet the Czechs (1-2-1), Sweden (3-1-0), Latvia (1-2-1) and Finland (3-1). -0) plays against Germany (2-2-0).

Canada took silver at the 2021 tournament, held without fans at Rogers Place in Edmonton due to COVID-19 restrictions.
