Ronaldo cautioned for hitting young fan’s phone

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been warned by police for slamming a 14-year-old boy’s phone on the ground following a defeat at Everton last season.

The 37-year-old apologized to the young fan via social media after the incident in April.

“We can confirm that a 37-year-old man attended voluntarily and was questioned under caution on allegations of assault and assault,” police said in a statement Wednesday.

“The allegation relates to an incident following the Everton v Manchester United football match on Saturday 9 April at Goodison Park. The matter was treated with conditional caution. The matter is now closed.”

Video footage appeared to show Ronaldo angrily slapping the phone out of the boys’ hands as he walked down the tunnel.

The boy’s mother said he was left with an injured hand and his phone screen smashed.

It is reported that Ronaldo is targeting a move from Old Trafford after returning to the club from Juventus a year ago.
