2016 Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie plane crash: FBI report reveals new details

In the heavily redacted report, which was released to both parties following a Freedom of Information Act request, the actress told officers that on a trip back to California with Pitt and their six children after a two-week vacation her then-husband had been drinking when he told her to accompany him to the back of the plane after having a tense interaction with one of their children.

Pitt’s name is redacted in the report, but he refers to her husband multiple times and he was married to Jolie at the time of the alleged incident.

Once there, she said, they were in a bathroom that had a privacy door that didn’t allow their children to see them as she alleged Pitt “grabbed her by the head”, “grabbed her by the shoulders”, shook her, pushed her into the bathroom wall and yelled various things at her, including “‘You’re fucking this family,'” according to the report.

“In response to allegations made following a United States aircraft special jurisdiction flight that landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue not the investigation. No charges have been filed in this case,” FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said in a statement to CNN at the time.

CNN has reached out to reps for Pitt and Jolie for comment.

“All parties have had this information for almost six years and has been used in previous legal proceedings. There is nothing new here and serves no purpose other than to be a media stunt intended to inflict harm pain,” a source close to Pitt said of the upcoming report. turn on now.

According to the FBI report, Jolie told investigators that two of their children (whose names are not obvious from the redacted report, but who were minors at the time) “were outside the door crying and asking ” How are you mom? “

Pitt reportedly yelled in response, “‘No, mom’s not okay. She’s ruining this family. She’s crazy,'” the report says.

According to Jolie, this prompted one of their children to respond, “‘It’s not her, it’s you, asshole,'” which she says infuriated Pitt and she allegedly saw him. running towards one of the kids ‘like he was going to attack’, at which point she said she put Pitt in a chokehold which he tried to break by throwing himself backwards, pushing her in the chairs behind them, he said in the report.

Jolie alleged in the report that she suffered back and elbow injuries as a result and shared a photo of the elbow injury with the FBI.

Black-and-white photocopies of the photos are included in the report, along with handwritten pages provided by Jolie, allegedly from her children, containing descriptions of the alleged incident. The manuscript pages are largely redacted.

Jolie also said in the report that Pitt continued to drink during the two-legged trip, later pouring her beer. After arriving in Los Angeles, the couple got into a physical altercation and she said Pitt stopped her and the children from leaving the plane for 20 minutes.

In addition to her back and elbow, the report states that Jolie also suffered “a carpet burn type injury” to her left hand. A photo of the injury is included in the redacted report. She was asked about a reported scratch on Pitt, which Jolie said in the report could have been caused by her, although she thought she had him more in a choke hold.

According to the report, after reviewing a probable cause statement related to the incident, a representative of the U.S. Attorney’s Office “discussed the merits of this investigation with the [FBI] case manager.”

“It was agreed by all parties that the criminal charges in this matter would not be pursued due to several factors,” the report said.

CNN has contacted the US Attorney’s office for comment.

When contacted by CNN via email, an FBI spokesperson replied, “No charges have been filed in connection with this case and it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

Jolie filed for divorce shortly after the incident and although a dissolution of their marriage was granted in 2019, their legal battle over ownership and custody of their minor children has continued over the years, a California Court of Appeals ruling last year that a retired judge who had hired to arbitrate the custody dispute should be disqualified due to a possible conflict of interest.
In 2020, Jolie told Vogue India that she broke up with Pitt for the sake of her children.
“I separated for the well-being of my family,” she said. “It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their recovery.”
Pitt told GQ in 2017 that he quit drinking after “drinking” too much last year.
In a June 2022 interview with British GQ, he talked about finding more peace recently.

“I’ve always felt very alone in my life,” he told the publication, “lonely growing up as a child, alone even here, and it’s really only recently that I’ve had a greater embrace of my friends and family.”
