Finally some fresh good news for those longing to stop by McDonald’s at any time of the day for breakfast foods: The chain is adding a new pastry – “The Cheese Danish” – to menus nationwide from September 14. And yes, the McCafe Bakery the item will be available at any time of the day.
Positioned as a “tasty” fall alternative to other popular seasonal flavors – your pumpkin, your maple and your pecan – Cheese Danish is officially described as a “puff pastry with a sweet cream cheese filling and topped with a buttery streusel and a light drizzle of vanilla” which is “ perfect for breakfast or as an afternoon treat. ”
The new treat, reminiscent of a similar pastry first introduced by McDonald’s in the 1980s, will join the other items in the McCafé Bakery all-day line: the apple fritter, blueberry muffin and cinnamon roll . It will be available at participating restaurants nationwide for purchases in person, drive-thru or through the McDonald’s app for McDelivery purchases. The chain suggests pairing it with your favorite McCafé drink.
McDonald’s calls its Cheese Danish “the next MVP treat of the season.”
Carmen Bryan, consumer analyst at data and analytics firm GlobalData, agrees in a press release, saying the chain’s reintroduction of a classic ’80s menu item feels “both nostalgic and fresh”.
“A cheese danish can be the perfect fall treat that escapes the typical ‘pumpkin spice’ cliches,” Bryan adds.
Interesting take. Could Cheese Danish Lattes be next? If so, that’s what we’re here for.
