Hilary Duff recreates her viral anti-bullying PSA from 14 years ago

Hilary Duff renews old content again. The singer and actress has recreated her public service announcement against gay bullying from 14 years ago.

In a video shared on her TikTok page, she is with Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying and her fiancé, Mark Manio. They all play teenagers trying on tops in a clothing store, as Duff teaches them not to use the word “gay” in a derogatory way.

“Do you like this top?” asks Hoying. “It’s so gay,” Manio replies, adding, “Yeah, it’s totally gay.”

Duff then interrupts them to tell them that this is not how the word should be used.

“You know, you really shouldn’t be saying that,” Duff lip-synchs to his own words from the 2008 PSA.

“Can you repeat that please?” asks Hoying.

Duff continues, “Well, to say something is gay when you mean it’s bad is insulting. What if every time something went wrong, everyone said, “She’s such a girl who wears a skirt as a top.”

“Those are cute jeans,” she adds.

Duff then tells viewers, “When you say, ‘That’s so gay,’ do you realize what you’re saying? Stop it. “”

The original PSA went viral in 2008. Duff filmed it for the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) campaign to educate people on the use of the phrase.
