Rugby Ulster, Glasgow see URC games postponed due to illness

(Reuters) – Ulster and Glasgow Warriors have postponed their scheduled United Rugby Championship games in South Africa for Saturday due to illness in their squads.

Ulster were due to meet the Sharks in Durban, while Glasgow were set for a clash with the Lions in Johannesburg.

“Due to gastroenteritis infections Ulster or Glasgow Warriors are unable to field full squads,” organizers said in a statement on Friday.

“In order to ensure the duty of care to the players involved and in light of medical advice from all key stakeholders, the United Rugby Championship has decided to postpone the matches.

“The league will now review possible dates for games to be rescheduled and will update in due course.”
