Paris-Saint-Germain’s array of star attackers has not always worked harmoniously.

But on Friday, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé scored a superb goal together that seemed unearthly in its precision and fluency.

Messi dribbled through midfield with a swing and then played a one-two with Juan Bernat, who was on the left side of the box, before the Argentine switched the ball to Mbappé.

With a heel swipe, Mbappé found Messi again – this time in the box – and the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner rounded the keeper and slotted the ball into the net.

With that goal in the 78th minute, PSG gave Ajaccio a 2-0 lead and eventually won 3-0 after a brace from Mbappé and Messi’s outrageous goal.

The defending Ligue 1 champions are unbeaten this season and top the table with 10 wins from their first 12 games.

After a disappointing first season at PSG in which he managed just four goals in 23 league games, Messi has scored six goals in his first 11 games and contributed nine assists this season.

“Of course people come to the stadium to see Leo, the PSG team, Kylian,” PSG head coach Christophe Galtier told reporters afterwards.

“Tonight Ney [Neymar] was missing, but also for him. I say it often, but [Messi] is one of the best players in football history. He loves playing for others, has a great connection with the ball and is very selfless.”
