Soccer-Brazilian trio strike as Wuhan restores lead in Chinese Super League

HONG KONG: Wuhan Three Towns restored their three-point lead at the top of the Chinese Super League on Tuesday as Pedro Morilla’s side defeated Dalian Pro 4-0.

Brazil trio Marcao, Davidson and Adelilson were on target for last year’s China League One winners as they stayed away from defending champions Shandong Taishan.

Shandong drew 50 points level with Wuhan after beating former champions Guangzhou FC 3-0 on Monday night.

Liu Yang’s header put Shandong ahead in the 11th minute before a brace from Brazil striker Cryzan secured the points for Hao Wei’s side.

However, Wuhan had few problems against Dalian 24 hours later as Marcao scored twice in three minutes of the first half to put the leaders under control.

The Brazilian striker’s first goal came in the 28th minute, when he headed in Davidson’s cross from the left and doubled the lead when he headed in after Zhang Chong saved a Nicolae Stanciu shot from outside the box.

Davidson curled his goal into the top corner just seconds into the second half and Adelilson made the score beyond doubt when he side-footed Davidson’s cutback six minutes from time.

The win puts Wuhan on 53 points from 21 games, three ahead of Shandong, while Shanghai Shenhua sits another nine points adrift of third place after drawing 1-1 with Guangzhou City.

Shanghai Port handed Meizhou Hakka a 7-0 win to move within a point of fourth-placed city-wide, with former Espanyol striker Wu Lei scoring a hat-trick.

Henan Longmen moved up to fifth after beating Cangzhou Mighty Lions 3-0 and ahead of Zhejiang FC after a 1-1 draw with Chengdu Rongcheng.

Zhang Yuning scored the only goal in Beijing Guoan’s 1-0 win over Changchun Yatai as the capital’s side moved up to seventh place, while the Tianjin Tigers defeated Wuhan Yangtze 3-1 and Shenzhen FC mit bottomed Hebei FC lost 1:2.
