Live Updates: Aaron Judge tries again for the #62 home run

With the regular season scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, any major disruption from rain this weekend could seriously disrupt Aaron Judge’s home run total. And with rain falling in the Bronx on Saturday — most of which was expected before 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service — the decision was made to push the start back to 1:30 p.m. in hopes of getting the game today.

In the unlikely event that teams are unable to play today, they could contest a doubleheader on Sunday. But with a 60 percent chance of rain during the day on Sunday and a 30 percent chance of rain in the evening, nothing is guaranteed.

Unfortunately, all lost games would almost certainly not be made up. There’s no postseason impact for either team, so the Yankees would likely end their season in 160 or 161 games instead of playing on Thursday — a planned day off for all postseason teams. Fans would no doubt be clamoring for a make-up game if Judge were stuck at No. 61, but an exception made to accommodate a player looking for an individual performance would be highly unusual.
