Barcelona predicted €274m profit this season

Barcelona said they had made a profit of 98 million euros ($98.27 million) for the 2021-22 financial year and forecast a profit of 274 million euros for this season.

Barcelona is on the Forbes list of football team valuations valued at $5 billion, behind rival Real Madrid, which is valued at $5.1 billion.

The club said on Monday that its board closed the financial year with sales of €1.017 billion and approved an operating income budget of €1.255 billion for this season.

Earlier this month, LaLiga raised Barcelona’s spending limit by €800m, pulling the club out of a spending deficit after the Catalan side sold large chunks of their assets to put their finances back in order.

To recoup losses and comply with LaLiga’s financial fair play rules, Barcelona sold 25 percent of their domestic television rights for the next 25 years to US investment firm Sixth Street in two deals worth over €500m.

The club raised another €200m from the sale of a combined 49 percent stake in Barca Studios in two separate transactions and signed a long-term sponsorship deal with streaming giant Spotify in March.

This allowed Barcelona to spend more than €150m on Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde in the final season, while Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso all came on free transfers.

Barcelona are second in LaLiga with 16 points after six games, two points behind Real.
