Canada adds three wrestling medals at Commonwealth Games


Birmingham, United Kingdom –

Canada added a handful of medals to their Commonwealth Games tally.

Freestyle wrestlers Ana Godinez-Gonzalez of Surrey, BC and Lachlan McNeil of Toronto both won silvers on Friday and Hannah Taylor of Cornwall, PEI, took bronze

Godinez-Gonzalez lost a 4-4 decision to India’s Sakshi Malik in the final of the women’s 62-kilogram freestyle final.

McNeil lost 9-2 to Bajrang Punia of India in the men’s 65kg final.

Taylor defeated Kenya’s Sophia Omutichio Ayieta 4-0 in the bronze medal match of the women’s 57 kg tournament.

Canada is third in the medal table with 17 gold, 22 silver and 23 bronze medals.
