Hockey Canada CEO is resigning from his position

CALGARY – The Board of Directors of Hockey Canada is stepping down from his position, effective immediately.

Hockey Canada said Michael Brind’Amour updated the board of his decision Friday night because the organization is intensely concerned with handling allegations of sexual assault and its culture of silence.

Brind’Amour issued a statement saying he had “listened attentively and attentively to the comments from Canadians” and believed that “immediate action is imperative to address the important challenges facing (the) organization and (the ) sport (of ice hockey).

Brind’Amour was first elected chairman in 2018, and his last term is expected to end in November this year.

According to Hockey Canada, the board will meet in the coming days to determine next steps and appoint an interim chairman.

The next board election is scheduled for the annual general meeting in November 2022.
