Jadeja injured out of Asian Cup, India bring in Patel

DUBAI: All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the rest of the Asian Cup with a knee injury and will be replaced by Axar Patel, holders India announced on Friday.

Jadeja, who played both matches for India in the tournament, suffered a right knee injury, Indian Cricket Board Secretary Jay Shah said in a statement.

Patel, a versatile left-arm player like Jadeja, was one of the reserve players.

India sailed into the Super Four stage of the Twenty20 tournament with wins over Pakistan and Hong Kong.

India will be hoping Jadeja will be fit before starting their Twenty20 World Cup campaign with a blockbuster on October 23 against rivals Pakistan in Melbourne.
