LOS CABOS, Mexico –
Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime continues to have a strong run at the Los Cabos Open.
Born in Montreal, he defeated Steve Johnson 6:4, 7:6 (3) and thus advanced to the semifinals.
Auger-Aliassime hit 17 aces against Johnson’s four, breaking the American on one of seven tries.
Auger-Aliassime, ranked ninth in the world and second in the tournament, defeated Mexico’s Alex Hernandez on Wednesday after earning a bye to the round of 16.
The 21-year-old faces either Cameron Norrie or Radu Albot for a place in the final on Friday.
A win in the semifinals would see Auger-Aliassime face off against either world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev or Miomir Kecmanovic, who will face off in the other semifinal match.
