Novak Djokovic heads into the fourth round of Wimbledon with a comfortable win over Miomir Kecmanovic

“Honestly, I think I’ve been playing better and better throughout the tournament, which is something you always wish for,” Djokovic said in his on-pitch post-match interview.

“You want to raise the level of tennis by a notch in every game, so that’s what’s happening.

“I know I can always do better and I always expect the best from myself, but so far so good and I’m looking forward to the next round.”

The top-seeker sped through the first set in just 24 minutes as he continues his quest for a fourth straight Wimbledon title.

Only in the second game of the second set did Kecmanović, ranked 30th in the world, appear on the scoreboard. At one point that set was even at 3-3 but Djokovic pulled away with a hold at 4-3.

Djokovic broke twice in the final set before Kecmanović hit back with a break of his own – his first of the game.

It proved too little too late, however, and the 20-time Grand Slam champion had sewn up the emphatic victory within two hours, much to the delight of the crowd.

“I don’t take your presence for granted so thank you for coming out and supporting tennis and both players, we appreciate that,” he said, addressing Center Court.

Djokovic meets Dutchman Tim van Rijthoven in the fourth round. The world number 104, a wildcard in the Wimbledon draw, has shot up the rankings in recent weeks before making her maiden Grand Slam appearance.

Van Rijthoven defeated Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 on Friday and extended his winning streak to eight games.
