Opening of the PCF Sparkletots center with childcare services for infants and children in Ang Mo Kio

SINGAPORE: A new PCF Sparkletots center was officially opened at Blk 227, Ang Mo Kio Street 23 on Saturday July 23, providing all-day childcare services for children aged two months to four years.

It is one of 44 early childhood centers run by the PAP Community Foundation (PCF) and the first such center in Teck Ghee.

The 586 square foot center, which opened in January, can accommodate 17 infants and 106 children at full occupancy.

The official opening was honored by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s guest of honor.

Under the Early Years Center model, children in Kindergarten 2 who are Singaporeans or permanent residents of Singapore will be guaranteed a place in a nearby Ministry of Education (MOE) kindergarten when they will be five years old.

Teck Ghee Sparkletots Center is located next to a MOE Kindergarten located in Ang Mo Kio Primary School.

PCF aims to open four more early childhood centers by the end of this year.

“There has been a growing demand for preschools that cater to children aged two months to four years, especially in new areas or areas with new apartments built to order where there are more families with young children,” Victor said. Bay, CEO of the PAP Community Foundation.

“Over the past 5 years, we have increased our total babysitting and childcare capacity by over 10,000 places, especially in new areas or areas with higher demand BTOs”, he added.
