Pierre Poilievre’s policy is ‘irresponsible’: Trudeau

SAINT ANDREWS, NB –

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s policies on the economy and attacks on Canadian institutions are reckless and irresponsible.

Trudeau is in New Brunswick to meet with his caucus for a three-day retreat before the House of Commons resumes sittings next week.

The retirement comes just after Poilievre won an easy victory in his party’s leadership race, ensuring he and the opposition pose a new challenge to the Liberals.

Poilievre says Liberals caused inflation with out-of-control spending during pandemic and said if prime minister he would fire Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem for being the ‘cash machine’ of Trudeau’s spending habit.

Trudeau says Poilievre is an irresponsible leader, spitting out buzzwords and dog whistles that don’t align with meaningful economic policies.

He says Canadians would have lost all their life savings if they had listened to Poilievre’s claim that investing in the Bitcoin cryptocurrency would allow them to “escape from inflation”.
