BANGKOK: Thailand’s central bank is watching the baht closely, the finance minister said on Wednesday, as the currency hit its lowest level in nearly 16 years.
Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith told reporters that the central bank will ensure that the weak Thai currency does not affect the economy. The baht was trading Wednesday at 37.15 to the dollar, the weakest since December 2006.
