There are literally thousands of iPhone cases to choose from, but after five months of testing hundreds of them with a 13 Pro Max, I can confidently say I have a favorite. In just a few weeks, this case has kept my iPhone 13 Pro Max safe and sound.
I like a good minimalist case that combines form and function. And while Totallee is generally known for ultrathin cases with minimal drop protection, I was intrigued that this hybrid option adds protection while keeping things slim.
Much of that extra durability comes from a solid black TPU rubber frame that wraps around the edges of the phone and protects the camera. Not only does it allow you to hold your iPhone securely, but it extends like a lip to protect the screen, preventing even the first few display drops from cracking during testing.
In head-to-head comparison tests to Apple’s silicone ($49) and leather MagSafe ($59) options, the Totallee case is not only less expensive, it also excels in durability and grain. base.
The back of the case is made of transparent and shiny plastic, which allows you to show off the color of your iPhone. I loved the way my Sierra Blue phone looked through and was grateful that the transparent nature didn’t distort the color.
In keeping with the ultra-thin nature of Totallee’s other cases, the Hybrid MagSafe case is remarkably thin and adds 0.3 inches of thickness to an uncased iPhone 13 Pro Max when attached, while the Apple case sets a whopping 0.7 inches.
Apple’s MagSafe feature aims to make wireless charging easier and works with all applicable MagSafe accessories, essentially future-proofing them. In my testing, I was able to snap it to the MagSafe Duo, a standalone MagSafe charger on a table, Anker’s magnetic charging discs, and a MagSafe disc built into a stand. You can drop it on any supported charger, hear it audibly snap into place, and rest easy knowing it powers up.
Totallee’s Hybrid Case is the perfect minimalist companion for iPhone 13 of any size. And while it launched at a fairly high price of $39.99, the case has since dropped to a much more reasonable $22.99 since our first tests. And after putting it through its paces – including a few planned and unplanned drops – I’d say it’s well worth the price.
