Nick Kyrgios: Wimbledon quarter-finalist charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Australian media reports

When asked about the charges on Tuesday, Australian Police told CNN in a statement: “ACT Police can confirm that a 27-year-old Watson man died on December 2 following an incident in December 2021.”

Barrister Jason Moffett, who is reportedly representing Kyrgios, told the Canberra Times, which first reported the news, that he had been briefed on the matter, which was “related to a domestic relationship”. Moffett said his client is aware of the charges.

CNN reached out to Moffett for comment.

“The nature of the allegation is serious and Mr Kyrgios takes the allegation very seriously,” Moffett told the Canberra Times.

“Given that the matter is in court … he has no comment at this time, but we will issue a media release in due course,” Moffett added.

Kyrgios, who is scheduled to face Chile’s Cristian Garín at Wimbledon on Wednesday, has reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal in seven years.

CNN has reached out to Wimbledon to comment on whether these allegations will affect his participation in the tournament.
