If you were one of those who doubted that Christian Bale could make it as Batman, he’s here to tell you that he’s had the last laugh.
In an interview with The Washington Post, the 42-year-old actor recalled how “tons of people” laughed at him when he talked about his serious take on Batman for ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy.
“I want [tell people] we’re kind of going to do Batman, but take it seriously. I’ve had tons of people laugh at me and just say, ‘Well, that just won’t work at all,’” Bale told the publication.
Bale portrayed Bruce Wayne beginning with “Batman Begins” in 2005 and ended the Christopher Nolan trilogy with “Dark Knight Rises” in 2012.
The films were acclaimed – Heath Ledger posthumously won an Oscar for his role as The Joker – and box office success, earning an estimated $2.5 billion worldwide.
“It’s wonderful to be part of a trilogy that has proven these people wrong,” Bale said. “I’m not sure it started [the Marvel Cinematic Universe] but it certainly helped along the way.
The former DC superhero will return as another comic book character – Gorr the God Butcher, an MCU villain for the upcoming ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ movie.
