Man arrested for allegedly using fake Malaysian driving license while applying at Woodlands Checkpoint

SINGAPORE: A 41-year-old man was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint on Friday August 12 after allegedly using a fake Malaysian driving license to apply for a pass.

Police received a report of a man who allegedly tried to use the fake document to apply for a multi-trip pass on August 12, Singapore Police (SPF) said in a press release.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an officer from the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) detected the fake driver’s license during the pass registration process.

The SPF carried out investigations in conjunction with the ICA and the man was arrested by officers from Woodlands Police Division the same day.

The man will be charged in court on Saturday for using a false document as authentic. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison, a fine, or both.

“Police will take harsh enforcement action against those who attempt to enter Singapore illegally,” SPF said.
