Doctors for Easton Oliverson, the injured Little League Baseball World Series player, said his skull cap will be reinserted Friday, according to an Instagram account set up to update on the 12-year-old’s recovery. He will “most likely” return to Utah after the procedure.

Easton was injured when he fell out of a bunk bed in the tournament’s dormitories in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on August 15.

The young athlete was flown to a children’s hospital in critical condition on August 15. His father told CNN he was “fighting for his life,” with doctors saying he was just 30 minutes from death. He underwent surgery and was placed in a medically induced coma.

In the days since, Easton has made impressive strides toward recovery, as documented on the @miraclesfortank Instagram account.

‘Miracles do happen’: CNN speaks to injured Little Leaguer’s family

“He won’t be reassigned to SLC tomorrow,” read the update released Monday. “His doctor in PA feels like he’s ready to have his skullcap put back! This takes place on Friday.

“Originally they had told Jace and Nancy it would be 6-8 weeks before this could happen. This is an amazing miracle in itself! He will most likely be transferred to SLC next week following the completion of this process.”

The post added that Easton “had many amazing moments of progress today,” including walking almost the entire hospital floor “with little to no help!”

Easton was also able to open his right eye Monday, the Post added, due to a reduction in swelling.

Easton’s feeding tube was removed from his Instagram Tuesday, according to an update.

“He put on a new pair of shoes and was able to walk the entire loop of his unit without stopping!” says the post. “The hospital staff provided very little help. His strength and urge to recover blows our minds every day!”

The positive update comes a day after the results of a CAT scan returned “normal” when doctors assessed the 12-year-old, who fell and hit his head a second time while going to the toilet unaccompanied on Saturday night.

The post added, “We couldn’t be prouder of him, grateful for the medical staff taking care of him and amazed at the miracles we continue to see every day.”
