Yora Tade: Indian kickboxer dies after collapsing in ring



Tade, 24, was taken to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai on Sunday after suffering a “hard hit to the head” during the final match of the National Kickboxing Championship, the hospital told CNN on Wednesday.

The doctors operated on him and took him to the intensive care unit. However, Tade died without responding to Tuesday’s treatment, the hospital added in its statement.

A native of the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, Tade was competing in the finals of the championship when he suffered the blow.

“Shocked to learn that our bright kickboxer Yora Tade has departed for his heavenly abode. Too soon to leave us, dear Tade! No words to express my sadness,” Prime Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu tweeted on Tuesday.
