Singapore F1 Grand Prix with the largest attendance since 2008, tickets expected to sell out: S Iswaran

Highlighting the F1 themed activities at the West Coast Community Centre, Mr Iswaran said public relations was an important part of the F1 event.

“The goal is to bring the buzz, excitement and experience of Formula 1 to all parts of Singapore, including our core countries,” he said.

He noted there is a GP roving truck with racing simulators that has been to about 17 locations including community centers and schools. F1 demonstrations were held in Suntec City, PLQ Mall and Dempsey and will go to more locations.

Mr Iswaran said that as a major event that attracts international visitors, the Grand Prix also attracts other types of activities such as MICE events and various types of conferences.

This year, Singapore will host the Milken Institute Asia Summit as well as the Forbes Global CEO Conference, both days ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix.

“The overall benefits will accrue to our tourism industry, particularly the hospitality industry – so it will benefit the hotels, the air travel industry, but also the F&B and our retail sector alike,” said Mr. Iswaran.

“Overall I think it has a positive impact on the broader hospitality and other sectors associated with the Formula 1 event.”
