The United States allows Nvidia to export and transfer technologies to develop an AI chip

:Nvidia Corp said on Thursday that the US government has authorized the exports and transfers into the country needed to complete development of the company’s H100 artificial intelligence chip.

The chip designer has also been allowed to fulfill orders for the A100 and H100 AI chips through its Hong Kong factory until September 1, 2023.

US officials on Wednesday asked Nvidia to stop exporting its top two computer chips for AI work to China, a move the company said would interfere with development of the H100.

The company said Thursday that Washington has also allowed it to make the necessary exports to provide support to US A100 customers through March 1, 2023. (https://bit.ly/3Q5YfhR)

Shares of the company fell 4% in premarket trading on fears the U.S. ban could hurt Nvidia’s business in the key Chinese market.

Rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc also said Wednesday that US officials had told it to stop exporting its best artificial intelligence chip to China.
