Arctic lakes disappear, even as ice melts


With countless reports linking global warming to melting glaciers, the results of a new study of Arctic lakes may raise some eyebrows.

According to new research, scientists have found that 82% of the Arctic has actually dried up in the past 20 years. The region’s lakes seem to hold less water today than they did twenty years ago.

Even more incredible is what researchers describe as the cause of these shrinking lakes: an increase in fall precipitation. CTV News science and technology expert Dan Riskin explains what that means in this month’s Riskin report
