Dybala suffers serious injury against Lecce, Mourinho says

AS Roma’s Argentina striker Paulo Dybala picked up a serious injury in the 2-1 home win over Lecce and may not be fit by the end of the year, coach Jose Mourinho said on Sunday (9/10).

Dybala was substituted right after the decisive penalty in the 48th minute and left the field with what appeared to be muscular problems. Medical staff put ice on his left thigh.

“I say (Dybala is) bad, not to say very, very bad. Unfortunately, it’s more bad than (just) bad,” Mourinho told DAZN.

The Portugal manager added that he imagines it would be difficult for Dybala to return before 2023.

“I’m not a doctor and I’ve never spoken to one, but in my experience and from what I understood from talking to Paulo, it’s going to be difficult,” he said.

The World Cup in Qatar starts on November 20th.
