Top Canadian Soccer Player Under 21

Toronto –

York United FC’s Osaze De Rosario, Forge FC’s Woobens Pacius and Valor FC’s Sean Rea are battling it out for the Canadian Premier League’s Best Canada Under-21 Player award.

The finalists were nominated by members of the league office. The winner will be determined by a media vote.

De Rosario, 21, son of former striker Dwayne De Rosario, signed for York in April and scored a club record 12 goals. The Toronto native finished second in the CPL Golden Boot race behind Alejandro Diaz, who scored 13 goals for Pacific FC before joining Norway’s Sogndal.

Pacius, a 21-year-old from Terrebonne, Que., scored 10 goals as the team leader for Forge, ranking fourth among CPL scorers.

Rea enjoyed a breakout season after being loaned to Valor from CF Montreal in April. The 20-year-old Montreal winger ended the regular season as the league leader with nine assists and five goals.

The CPL awards ceremony takes place before the league’s championship game, which is played on October 29th or 30th.
